Bring back the 1992 Batman the animated series!!

Official DC Entertainment statement:

"A cool, new take on the classic Dark Knight franchise, Beware the Batman incorporates Batman's core characters with a rogues gallery of new villains not previously seen in animated form. Along with backup from ex-secret agent Alfred and lethal swordstress Katana, the Dark Knight faces the twisted machinations of Gotham City's criminal underworld led by the likes of Anarky, Professor Pyg, Mister Toad and Magpie. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, this action-packed detective thriller deftly redefines what we have come to know as a "Batman show." Featuring cutting-edge CGI visuals to match the intricate twists and turns of the narrative, Batman steps out of the shadows and into the spotlight for an entirely new generation of fans. With WBA's Sam Register executive producing, and Batman Beyond's Glen Murakami and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated's Mitch Watson producing, Beware the Batman, based on characters from DC Comics, is coming soon to Cartoon Network!"

With Katana as Robin, it's reminding me a lot of The Green Hornet. But I'll give it a try. :)

I don't see why they don't just re-air the TAS batman shows, they were awesome. Way better then 97% of the stuff they've been airing recently. What I'd really love to see them do is a Green Arrow show, preferablly in the style of the short from the batman/superman: Apocalypse movie, that was cool. As far as this new batman series goes its gonna suck worse then batman beyond! Atleast they had a unique take on the series and some truely intresting characters.

Why do they put someone like Katana in anyway, it's not like she'll actually be shown to cut anything cos that's too much for a kids show. The animation could be cool though.

It's people wanting Batman TAS back that got us into this to begin with
And not even Batman TAS, but only the 1st season

By the time Batman TAS reached it's first season, people started whining that it sucks, so they cancelled it

Then when the time came to give Batman another go, and they made The Batman, people started whining cause it was not Batman TAS

Eventually they realized that nothing they can ever do will ever measure-up to Batman TAS, and so they went the completely opposite direction and created the Batman: Brave and the Bold, and it was awesome.

Yet the fantards continued with their pathetic whining, complaining that the show isn't dark enough, completely forgetting how much the hated the last show that tried to follow the dark route.

And so we are getting this
and the whining continues

sometimes I just want to brutally slaughter all the fans

I was under the impression that Batman TAS lasted four seasons, launched Bruce Timm's career, and defined the DC animation style for years to follow. I remember it winning Emmy Awards, critical acclaim for both the writing and art direction, and every God damn kid in my school watching it faithfully even if they weren't cartoon or super hero fans.
Maybe that's what 'sucks' means, I didn't look it up.

nope, only 3 seasons were made
they however came out on 4 DVD's

and that was a typo on my part
the whining started during the series third season, after the art-style changed
the series got cancelled the very same season

I'm a Superman fan my self Batman has been run so much they don't know WHAT to do with him, I'd like to see another JLA or a Superman/Batman series with some of the main stream villians like Lex Luthor, Penguin, Metallo, Catwoman, Joker, Mr. Mxyzptlk etc etc etc. THOSE are characters that are truly epic and they don't need re-Imagining

I don't understand why there need to be so many animated versions of Batman. It's like no sooner does one Batman cartoon go off the air than another one takes its place. And in some cases they overlap, such as when the TAS Batman still doing his thing on JLU when The Batman premiered. Also, I don't think I'm being a change-phobic old-timer when I say that they haven't been able to top Batman the Animated Series. I get that Batman is a really popular character and everything, but he has been reinvented in animation an insane number of times since I was a kid. Personally, I'd rather see a new animated take on Superman. Well, maybe when Man of Steel comes out. That seems to be the way it works- they make a new movie and then they follow it up with a cartoon.

Here's the way it was explained to me:
Batman is always a successful property for investors, but Cartoon Network has decided that kids' attention span only lasts 3 seasons. Even is a show is doing very well (Brave & the Bold, Transformers Animated etc) the suits won't OK a 4th season. It's painful for us fans, but they've outright said that these cartoons aren't made for the fans.
I know that alot of talented, passionate people work on the cartoons, and they probably have the fans in mind (or usually are fans themselves), but the people writing the checks just don't care. :(

When I was making my point, I realized someone could potentially use that series as an argument. It's not quite the same thing, though. Unlike all the recent Batman cartoons, it's not like Batman: TAS came out immediately after the Filmation series; there was around a fifteen year gap in between. I'm not saying people shouldn't try new things or that there was nothing worthwhile in the shows that followed TAS, but to me, and I think a lot of other people, TAS is still the best cartoon version of Batman and perhaps even the best version of Batman, period. I will admit that part of me can see how it might be sort of cool to see so many variations on the character, but a bigger part says, "If it ain't broke, why fix it?"

because if something stays the same for too long it becomes stale?

people like to forget that back in the 90s, by the time season 3 of Batman TAS came along, some people actually started complaining about the show, not liking the direction it took.
This was one of the reasons why it was replaced with Batman Beyond

it took about 6 years for another Batman show with Bruce Wayne as Batman to air
The Brave and the Bold came to be largely as a result of WB realizing that no Batman show after Batman TAS would be accepted by the fanbase, and so they decided on a whole new direction, to avoid any comparison

Exactly! I have never understood why there cannot be one Batman show that can go on like the simpsons or so and just revamp some things if needed (a la justice league unlimited) altho the batman universe is too rich in stories to really get dull.. it just wouldnt happen..

Yeah, have we forgotten about all the people screaming about the Simpsons having jumped the shard, and needing to be cancelled decades ago?

Yeah...
That would happen to Batman too
Shows need to end before they get stale
Having a new series for each generation helps keeping the characters fresh

And as far as I remember, people were already calling Batman TAS stale by the time it got into it's third season, but because it got canceled when it did, it's remembered as a masterpiece nowadays

To be fair, Professor Pyrg and Mr. Toad are both legitimate Batman villains from the comics

Professor Pyg is a serial killer and cult leader, while Mr. Toad was a small-time gangster (to be fair tho, I'm kinda shocked by his inclusion, seeing as he only appeared in 3 issues, and then got killed by the Joker)

however this direction was to be expected
seeing how intensely the fans hated everything tat came after Batman TAS, it was only a question of time until WB went "fuck you fans, were going with the hip crowd!"

I'm not talking about this. If you like that villains, okay, it's your opinion, I respect it. I wasn't so clear when I said I didn't know them... I remember them a little, but I don't think they're too good to be a threat to Batman.

actually, DC is doing just fine

DC is a comic publisher, they make comics
the cartoon is being made by Warner Bros., they are only using DC's license for the franchise

If you want to see how DC's Batman is doing at the moment, I heavily recommend you reading Scott Snyder's Batman [link] and Peter J. Tomasi's Batman and Robin [link]

as far as quality of comics goes, DC is doing much better than Marvel at the moment

Warner is doing DC no favors by this type of Batman drek. The artwork appears to be horrible.

And, judging by the flak DC is receiving over the DCu52 reboots of favorite characters, they appear to have shot themselves in the foot with the fanbase.
